Frequently asked questions

Where will my child be sleeping?

If staying in the main hall, children will be sleeping in a comfortable bedroom that has an en-suite shower-room. Adults will be sleeping in rooms nearby. All bed linen is provided but youngsters do have to remake their bed before departure. If staying in self-catering accommodation, the Leaders/teachers will be sleeping nearby.

Who will be responsible for my child?

If your child is coming with their Leader/teacher then those persons will have responsibility, otherwise there will be several specialist Leaders attending as well as Waddow staff on site, these include fully-qualified First Aiders.

What will the children be eating?

The children will be eating tasty, wholesome food cooked by our resident caterers. Breakfast is usually continental style with toast, cereal and fruit. The buffet lunch, which has a variety of cooked meats, cheese, eggs, salad, etc, is a favourite. In the evening, children enjoy a cooked two-course meal. If we are informed in advance, special dietary needs will be catered for. The children are asked to clear and reset the dining tables after each meal.

What do they need to bring?

They need to wear their section wear if they are a member of an association.  In addition they will need to bring nightwear, underwear and outdoor (waterproof) wear. They will need toiletries and towels.  Please help us by ensuring that all clothing is named and remember their clothes may get dirty!  Your child may like to bring some personal things eg a book but they will be responsible for their own belongings, so please don’t allow them to bring anything expensive. They may also like a small amount of pocket money to spend in our shop.  Waddow can not be held responsible for any belongings and we advise you to take out the appropriate insurance.

What are the travel arrangements?

This will be the responsibility of yourselves and/or your child’s Leader/teacher.

What time should we arrive at Waddow?

If they are attending for a weekend event, you are welcome to arrive anytime after 6pm , Friday evening meal is usually at 7.30pm.  If this is not possible, kindly let us know in advance.   Please park in the car park and walk to the front door of the hall.

What time will the weekend finish?

Usually the weekend will finish between 2.30–3.00pm on the departure day.

What will my child be doing?

Your child will be taking part in a range of indoor and outdoor activities, organised and supervised by qualified Leaders and Waddow staff.

What if I need to contact my child?

Please avoid contacting your child unless it is an emergency. In the event of an emergency, state clearly the name of your child and the event/group with whom he/she is attending. You can find our contact details here.

What do I need to do now?

What if I have further questions?
