Three Guides and their Leader canoeing on the River RibbleWaddow offers an exciting range of adventurous instructed activities, non-instructed activities and games for groups to book on an individual or package basis.

Instructor-led activities

 

Jacob's Ladder - NEW FOR 2012


Work together as a team to reach the sky! Be careful - the higher you climb, the harder it gets!

Pioneering (instructor-led) - NEW FOR 2012

Our instructors will guide you through the knots to help make swings, bridges, catapults and more.

Zip Wire - OPENED 2011

     The ultimate experience - it's the talk of the summer! Zip down the wire for a truly exhilarating ride!

Abseiling

Test your head for heights and balancing skills.

Archery

Test your accuracy on the archery range. Our instructor will teach you how to use the bow and arrow safely.
 

Canoeing

From the canoe base you can paddle down the River Ribble in our Canadian-style boats. 


Climbing

Learn simple climbing techniques with qualified instructors on our single-pitch crag.


Crate Challenge

Build a tower of crates whilst standing on the top and harnessed to a rope. 

Improvised Rafting

Build your own raft and sail (or sink!) on the River Ribble.

 

Kayaking

From the canoe base you can paddle down the River Ribble in our closed-cockpit dagger boats.

 

Low Ropes

Keep off the ground as you skilfully manoeuvre around the course of wires and ropes.

Nightline

Our instructor will guide you blindfolded around a course, sharpening your senses as well as your team skills. This doesn't have to be done at night!


Team Building

Working as a team, solve physical and mental problems to challenge everyone.

Tree Climb

Dare you scale the heights of our enormous 60ft tree?

Waddow's Warren - OPENED 2011

     Our above-ground 'caving' tunnels will test your bravery!

Bouldering Wall

Encourage climbers to exercise and advance their low-level climbing skills, with lots of games to make it fun.

 

Earthball

A two-metre inflatable ball to play team games with.

 

Game Zone

The return of the old favourite - Skittle Alley! Along with table football, darts and board games. Great fun for rainy afternoons or dark evenings.


Grass Sledging

Have all the fun of sledging but without the snow!


Orienteering

Waddow boasts three permanent orienteering courses, bearing different degrees of difficulty.

Pioneering (group-led)

Use your skills and initiative to create structures out of wooden poles.

Soapstone carving

A great activity for a summer evening as it needs to be done outside. Stretch your artistic skills and spend time carving the stone into a sculpture to remember your time at Waddow.
 

Trampoline

Work off extra energy on our trampolines.

Site fee

If you are not staying on site or booking an indoor space, a site fee of £1 per person is charged.

What to Wear

All water activities require participants to wear swimwear, old clothes and trainers. All safety equipment is provided. Please bring a change of clothes and towel. Participants must be able to swim 50 metres and be over the age of 10 years.

For all other activities, please make sure that you wear warm clothing, long sleeves and trainers suitable for the weather. Please do not wear shorts or cropped trousers.

Activities for people with disabilities

The ability to participate in an activity session depends upon each individual. At Waddow we try to make activities as inclusive as possible. Where we envisage a participant cannot take part we will try to offer an alternative. Please contact the assistant manager to discuss your requirements.

Booking and cancellation policy

To avoid disappointment it is recommended bookings are made at least four weeks in advance, using the Activity Request Form which you can download from the Resources page.

Waddow staff will be happy to help plan your programme if required.

All prices exclude VAT.

Activities are booked on a first come, first served basis and should be booked on the Activity Request Form, to reach us no less than four weeks before your visit. Until you have received the Booking Confirmation please do not presume your activities are booked.

Numbers of participants MUST NOT exceed the maximum numbers, as they will not be able to take part in the session.

Please inform us of any disabilities, medical conditions and illnesses at the time of booking and again before the session commences.

We reserve the right to cancel activities in the event of adverse weather/river conditions.  Activities cancelled by Waddow will not be charged however we will endeavour to offer a reasonable alternative or time.

If groups fail to turn up for activities or cancel with fewer than three days’ notice the full cost will be charged. Late arrivals may not be able to extend session times and refunds will not be made for time missed.

All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Sessions may be terminated by Waddow staff where discipline is not maintained with the group. No refund will be available.

The Activity Policy and Risk Assessments are available upon request.
